The Johnny Butler Memorial Scholarship is established in honor and respect of our dear friend. Charismatic, sensational, fabulous, passionate are a few words to describe Johnny.
In his honor the scholarship will recognize a LGBTQ individual annually on June 2nd, Johnny’s birthday and provide funding to help pursue that person’s dreams. Whether it be someone studying LGBTQ issues in college, a writer weaving a story of gay life, an actor trying to get a foot in the door.
Glinting, gleaming, smiling, laughter and FIERCENESS are words to describe Gemini Aviance.
From the moment he entered a room and shared his smile you were taken in by him. Johnny was a performer, an actor, a drag queen. And Johnny was a lover of life. He was always searching for the rainbow. Whether he was sitting on a rooftop dressing room in NYC with his sisters or singing a song at Galano for a holiday show he created an experience not just a performance.
In his honor a fund will recognize a LGBTQ individual annually on June 2nd, Johnny’s birthday and provide funding to help pursue that person’s dreams. Funding is available for a drag queen working to claim his/her place in the rich life of performing. This person will represent the spirit and genuine heart of Johnny ‘Gemini Aviance’ Butler.
The 20th Anniversary concert, United in Voice was a huge success. With a crowd of over 300 patrons the chorus provided music that touched souls, brought tears and laughter. We hope to provide you the video in the coming weeks. For now we offer some pictures of the evening.
